Hello from the bustling San Francisco Bay Area!
I'm LaMont Ridgell, a Michigan-born singer, actor, and voice-over artist. My journey in the arts began at Western Michigan University, Broadcast Communications with a double minor in Theatre & Theatrical Dance. and continued at Syracuse University, where I honed my skills as a classically trained Lyric Baritone. My time at WMU also saw me delve into the world of radio as an announcer at NPR affiliate WMUK (102.1 FM).
My theatrical ventures in the Bay Area have been as varied as they are fulfilling, with lead roles in companies like Custom Made Theatre, Contra Costa Civic Theatre, and TheatreFirst. Each performance is a chapter in my ongoing story of artistic exploration.
Voice-over work is another realm where I've found my voice, quite literally. From announcing for Syracuse University's Pride of the Orange to contributing to projects like Books for the Blind and Fisher Price PowerTouch electronic books, my vocal range has found its way into diverse narratives. My Audible narrations, including titles like "Fourth Wing," "The Devil's Crossing," and "The Queer Advantage," showcase my versatility in bringing stories to life.
In the spirit of Aretha Franklin, "Being a singer is a natural gift. It means I'm using to the highest degree possible, the gift that God gave me to use. I'm happy with that."
Whether on stage, in a studio, or behind a microphone, my mission is to inspire and connect through the power of voice and performance.
